FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

ALLAN KAIPO KALUA, SR
ALLAN KAIPO KALUA, SR. March 28, 1933 - February 12, 2018 Surrounded by his loving family, Allan K. Kalua, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2018 at Pali Momi Hospital. As a young 12-year old boy raised in Kaka'ako, he would greet tourists from the Matsonia and dive into Honolulu Harbor to collect the coins they tossed. An original co-founder for the Sons of Hawaii Motorcycle Club, he took delight in his tricycle rides around the island and in the Kamehameha Day Parade. He was a member of the Makakilo Bowling League at Country Lanes in Waipahu, the Makakilo Spoilers Mountain Ball League and attended the Molokai Mountain Ball Invitational for 10 years. His love of sports was evident because he would enjoy watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play football, softball and soccer. He was a devoted member of St. Jude Church in Makakilo, attended bible classes and loved watching the entertainment at the potluck dinners. He was a licensed electrician at KEM's Inc. and also worked as a crane repair man. Recently retired from Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, he was in charge of Bike Shop 55 for over 40 years where he oversaw a fleet of 2,500 bicycles. He valued his job and considered it more of a hobby. An avid ballroom dancer, he won a few contests in his day. He also had a deep passion for singing, appreciated listening to oldies and Hawaiian music, traveled to Canada, Boston, New York, California and more frequently to Las Vegas. Allan was pre-deceased in death by his parents, James and Frances Kalua, Brothers Solomon, James and Robert Kalua, Sisters Peggy Tecson, Valley Rose James and Elizabeth Kalua and Son Allan Kalua, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife Anita, Sons Darryl (Marlene) Kalua, Kevin and Christopher Lau, Daughters Lori (Steve) Lo, Kelley (Frank) Stillman, Carla (Aleki) Jeremiah, Kaylene (Vince) Auld, 19 Grandchildren and 21 Great- Grandchildren. Celebration of Life Wake - Tuesday, March 20, 2018 - 5pm visitation at Mililani Memorial (Mauka). Burial Service - Wednesday, March 21, 2018 - 9am viewing at St Jude Church in Makakilo with 2pm burial at Hawaiian Memorial to follow. Aloha attire.
