Charlene E. Unoki, 65, of Honolulu, passed away at home after a long illness on February 25. Born in Honolulu, she grew up in Hakalau on the island Hawaii, and graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She worked for many years for Land Division, Department of Land and Natural Resources, and following retirement, she returned to work for the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation. In her spare time, she enjoyed travelling, reading, cooking, hiking, and spending time at the beach. Charlene is survived by her companion, Paul Malaspina; mother, Blanche Miyoko Unoki; brothers, Calvin (Vanessa) Unoki, Karl (Merle) Unoki, and Wesley (Cynthia) Unoki; and sister, Susan (Robert) Wong; and nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Hilo Coast United Church of Christ, Sokabe Chapel in Honomu, Hawaii on Saturday, March 24.
