John Clary McLaren
John Clary McLaren passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Kaiser Hospital in Honolulu. John was born on August 27, 1951 to Dallas and Kazue McLaren. A '69 Punahou graduate, he received a Masters from the University of Hawaii School of Public Health and a J.D. from Seattle University. Those who were fortunate enough to know John recall his dedication as a legislative staffer in Senator Spark Matsunaga's Washington office, his passionate law career advocating for his clients, and his unwavering support for environmental, animal and community causes. Mostly, he will be remembered for his compassion, quirky sense of humor and rare intelligence. He is survived by brothers Chris (Monica) and Jay; niece Mollie Hochla, and nephew Ty McLaren. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Punahou School's Thurston Memorial Chapel; Visitation: 1:00 pm, Service: 2:00 pm.
