FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Yasuo Takara
Yasuo TakaraYasu 85, passed away on February 2, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society Pohai Nani, Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Care Center. He was born on February 18, 1932, in Waipahu. Upon high school graduation, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, and went on to Emporia State University where he received a B.S. in Biology and Master's degree in counseling and education. He spent 29 years in education and retired as an Athletic Director from Campbell High School in 1989. Yasu's passions were football, golf and fishing. He donated his time and energy to serve as a Director for the Hawaii Junior Golf Association, and OIA Golf Coordinator until the mid 70's. He also served as Golf Coordinator for the Hawaii High School Athletic Association, until 1995. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael, and survived by wife Yukiko Joyce; daughters, Ruth Takara and Melanie (Frank) Su'a; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers Zensho and Henry, and sister Shizue Inafuku. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 at Mililani Mortuary, Mauka Chapel, located in Waipio Gentry. Visitation begins at 5:00 p.m. with Services at 6:00 p.m. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
