"Dennis Kido, age 65, from Kailua, Oahu died at St. Francis Hospice-West. He was kind hearted and generous and always looked for opportunities to help others. He graduated from Kailua High School in 1963 and served in the US Army in the Far East. After the army he worked on the mainland, SE Asia and the South Pacific. Besides work, Dennis always found time for others: Volunteering for public TV, Big Brothers and as a ski guide at the Colorado Ski School for the Blind. He continued to improve himself by taking classes at University of Colorado and Hawaii, studying engineering and computer technology. He returned to Hawaii in l995 to care for his aging parents and started a new career at the UH in information technology.
He was big brother to Carol (John) Burke of Waianae and Howard (Donnette (Doi)) Kido of Portland, OR. Dennis was a loving uncle to his nephew, Michael Burke of Honolulu, and nieces Anne (David) Standring of Renton, WA, Michelle Kido of New Orleans, LA, Jennifer Kido of Portland, OR and Kimberly (Bert) Chang of San Francisco, CA.
