Atsushi “Fifi” Hasebe
93, passed peacefully at home with family by his side on April 26, 2018. Predeceased by wife Nancy, he leaves son Glenn (Kathy), daughters Nora (Andrew) Nomura and Kathy (Gary) Asato, 6 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. Born December 3, 1924 in Puunene Maui, he is also survived by sisters Evelyn Kuriyama, Edith Osumi, Emi (Robert) Ogawa and Enid Okubo. He was co-owner of the Oahu Metal and Supply, then worked for the Board of Water Supply, retiring as supervising investigator. Growing up in Kalihi, he played baseball and competed in boxing. An avid bowler in the 50's and 60's, he was distinguished by bowling the first 800 series in Hawaii. Later in life, he carried on his passion for recreation when he and Nancy become accomplished ballroom dancers. They had a great life together dancing, traveling and enjoying their grandchildren. When Nancy became sick with a long illness, he was her devoted caregiver. He would often say he was lucky to have had such a good life. We were lucky to have him in our lives.
