67, beloved wife, mother, and friend, returned to God in her Manoa home on July 15, 2018, in the arms of her daughter and husband. Valerie served as a board member of Y. Hata & Co., and was also executive assistant to her father, Frank. After 15 years in remission, her cancer returned in 2015 but proved too much for her despite a valiant fight. She was blessed with many friends who lovingly took care of her and her family throughout her final years. A free spirit who lived life to the fullest, she enjoyed traveling, good food, painting, ikebana, and laughing with "Val's Pals". She is survived by her husband Greg; her daughter Marissa; stepchildren Michael, Lisa, and Paul, and 7 step grand- children. Also survived by her brother Russell (Val); nephew Jeffrey, and niece Risa. Celebration of life to be held at Waialae Country Club on August 11 at 5 pm. Aloha attire, no flowers or gifts. Val was adamant that "...no one's allowed to be sad. Party and celebrate my life!" Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
