TATSUO “JACK” ENDO
TATSUO February 1, 1916 - September 17, 2018 Jack Endo, age 102, passed away peacefully at Tan's Foster Care Home on September 17, 2018, with family by his side. He was born February 1, 1916 in Waialua, Oahu, Hawaii to the late Tomeji and Tsuwa Endo and was the second oldest of eight siblings. Jack was preceded in death by his siblings Tadashi Endo, Beatrice Okumoto, Paul K. Endo, Seichi (Seppo) Endo and Takayoshi (Pluck) Endo. Jack graduated from Waialua School and attended the Honolulu Vocational School where he learned the electrical trade. He worked at the Pearl Harbor Shipyard during WWII, was offered a civil service position at the end of the war but decided to go in another direction. Jack, with his late wife Kimie "Betty", founded Jack Endo Electric in October of 1946. The company continues today with family members managing the operations and continuing his legacy. At first, Jack concentrated on residential wiring but as time went on he branched off into commercial and government contracts. Jack's most memorable project was the Relocation of Utilities on Nimitz and Kamehameha Highways between Puuloa Road and Valkenburg Avenue which was completed in 1976, prior to the construction of today's airport viaduct. He officially retired in 1984. Jack was not an athlete but traveled to Las Vegas countless times visiting the Dunes, Sands, Imperial Palace, Sahara and the Boyd Hotels. He is survived by sons: Herbert (Yoi) Endo, David Endo and daughter, Kathleen (Kathy) Shimabukuro; Grandchildren: Robert (Melveen) Yamamoto, Shelli (Ryan) Hashimoto, Steven (Celeste), Stanley J. Endo and Lucille (Todd) Dwight; Great-grandchildren: Savannah Endo, Chelley Endo, Jackson Endo, Shyla Yamamoto, Kamalei Dwight and Makoa Dwight; Sisters: Yoshiko (Koichi) Kato and Takako Patsy (Yoshi) Uchiyama; Sisters-in-law: Sumiko Endo, Jane M. Endo and many nephews and nieces; Caregiver: Norma Tan. A Service and Celebration of his Life will be held at Mililani Memorial Park, Mauka Chapel in Waipio on Saturday, November 10, 2018.
