Gregory “Sonny” “Pops” Hall
We sorrowfully announce the passing of Gregory "Sonny" "Pops" Hall. He passed away at the age of 90, on Thursday, October 25, 2018, in Kaneohe. Greg was born in Honolulu on February 20, 1928, and was the only boy amongst 6 sisters. Graduated from Kaimuki HS in '46; joined the Army; worked as a letter carrier for the Postal Service for 42 years; also a bartender in hotels and discos in Waikiki. He loved sports, especially riding his horses, golf, running marathons and following his 3 sons in their sports while at Punahou and always wanted them to have more than he had. Though his heart was his nemesis Greg loved life to the fullest. He'd give the shirt off his back to anyone, especially family, friends and the younger generation. He was a friend to all. This is his legacy! A friend from Seattle said, "Handsome? Oh my yes! And that smile!!" But Greg's heart was truly the biggest thing about him. He will remain in every heart that beat near his at any point of his amazing life." His heart now beats as our "SPECIAL ANGEL". He is survived by his loving wife Pearl "Momi" (McGregor-Pang), sons: Guy L (Lisa), Kevin G, Sean T, and stepson Thompson K. Pang; grandsons: Tristan and Blaze; granddaughters: Cody and Mackenzie; step grandchildren: Carlos and Natalia Salguero: hanai son Jon Diego; sister Lorraine Ornellas and numerous nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his five sisters, Alice Preston, Marie Naehu, Bonnie Fonseca, Anne Vierra and Gladys Gilding. A Celebration of his Amazing Life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Central Union Church. Visitation: 10:30 a.m.; Service: 12:00 p.m.; Reception: 1:00 p.m. Casual attire. Lei welcome.
