Gaye Lin Yamashita AllanGAYE LIN YAMASHITA ALLAN Gaye Lin Yamashita Allan passed away peacefully at home in Westlake Village, California on December 16, 2018. Gaye began life at Queen's Hospital in Honolulu, on March 30, 1964. She attended elementary and middle schools in Kaneohe and expanded her world view at Gunn High School in Stanford, CA while living on the Stanford University campus with her mother. Gaye majored in English literature and minored in mathematics at Pomona College, both areas of study preparing her for a rich professional and personal life. She spent a year studying international business at the Japan America Institute of Management Science in Honolulu, where she met Bart, who had graduated from UC Santa Barbara. The two participated in internships in Tokyo, Japan, after which Gaye returned to the Los Angeles area to begin her professional life. Gaye started as account assistant at an advertising agency, rose to higher levels of account management at other firms, and eventually became executive vice president of Duncan & Associates in Los Angeles. She created her own firm, Brand Allies, followed by the advertising and consumer research firm of Allan-Jenson. She most recently became the sole owner and president of Travis Research Associates, Inc. She and her husband Bart proudly raised their two sons, Tate and Cole, in Westlake Village. She is also survived by her mother June Yamashita, brother Ward Yamashita and his wife Mary Moran of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Bart's parents Joan and Dorr Looman of Calabasas, California and other relatives in Hawaii. Gaye and Bart sought a spiritual base and found it at the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Newbury Park, CA. Private services were held in Kaneohe and another will take place at the Fellowship later this month. The family encourages donations to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance at www.ocrahope.org.
