MANUEL “MAXIE” FERNANDEZ
84, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on January 20, 2019 after a lengthy illness. He was retired from the City and County, Refuse Division as a Supervisor in 1994. Maxie was a champion Stock Car Driver, racing in the old Honolulu Stadium and at Hawaii Raceway Park where he drove his Orange Car #63. His other loves were Wild Pig Hunting, Shoreline Fishing, Deep Sea Fishing and playing Keno in Las Vegas. He is survived by his three sons: Brian, Keith and Derek; former spouse, Rose Marie Fu; sister, Norma (Mert) Weltzien and nieces, Marnie White and Mindy McCartney. Our Family would like to thank Norma and Dexter Jacinto for the loving care Maxie received for the last 8 years. A Celebration of Maxie's Life will be held at Borthwick Mortuary, Mauka Chapel, on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. Aloha/Casual attire, please. The scattering of his ashes will be done at a later date.
