Kurt D. WiegertKURT D. WIEGERT 59, of Kailua passed away at Castle Hospital on October 25, 2018, after a lengthy illness. Kurt was the creator of XSDB SOUND HONOLULU and was also known as "The Marshall Guitar Amp Man of Hawaii". His knowledge of Marshalls gained him widespread recognition. His vintage collection of amps and guitars brought many local and national touring guitarists to the doors of XSDB SOUND HONOLULU. The jam sessions at the shop and at The Queen Theatre in Kaimuki were legendary. Kurt was a self-taught electrical and audio engineer. At Kailua High School he built his first guitar amplifier with a build-it-yourself kit; he took that success and never looked back. He immersed himself in his passion: Marshall amps. His ability to get the tone that guitarists desired was remarkable. Rock 'n' roll in Hawaii will never sound the same without Kurt and his Marshalls. Kurt was always teaching, passing on his knowledge to anyone willing to learn musician, technician... it didn't matter. His willingness to give his knowledge to others was truly exceptional in the music industry, and he will be sadly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey, and sister, Cheryl. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy, and cousin Tony. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 28, 2019 at Anna O'Brien's. Come join us as WE TURN THE AMPS UP TO 12 ONE LAST TIME IN HIS HONOR!! Musicians load in at 7:00 p.m.; Jam session begins at 9:00 p.m. For more information, call or text Tony Coletta at (715) 922-0332.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
