Roy Caldwell Stocks
Roy C, Stocks, 85, of Honolulu, passed away on May 6, 2019. He was born in Winfield, AL, son of Delmer and Burma G. Stocks. He served in the US Navy for 6 years, assigned to a supply ship based in Hawaii. He married and after the birth of his first child, he resigned from the Navy. In 1962, he began working at the Chevron Refinery, with eventual promotion to Purchasing Manager. During this time he attended night school earning a business degree from UH. In 1982, his company sent him to the Sudan where they were building a pipeline. He spent 3 years there, in charge of the work crew. On his return, he took a position at the El Segundo Refinery in L.A, retiring in 1995. Roy had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. He enjoyed golf and football, especially his beloved U. of Alabama "Crimson Tide". He loved to read (particularly historical books) and to travel. He is survived by his current wife, Diane VanderZanden; sons Tim, Troy (Sharon) and Tracy (Alicia); and their mother, Pat Malunao; step-sons Galen (Judy), Randall, Steve (Darlene), and Greg (Ellen) Clifford; brother Bob (Pat); 2 sisters-in-law Rachel and Martha Stocks; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous step-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son Thomas "Skip", his second wife Phyllis Batchelor (mother of his step-sons), and his brothers Bill, James and Gaines. Private Services.
