Grace H. Furukawa, of Honolulu, age 93 passed away on July 2, 2019. Grace was raised in New York during the Great Depression and moved to Hawaii in the 1940s to begin her nursing career at the Queen's Hospital and later as a public health nurse. She was married to Edward Furukawa for 56 years until his death in 2018. She was well known in the community for her volunteerism and advocacy, most notably her longstanding involvement in the League of Women Voters. She was preceded in death by her parents Louise Gruen Hanser and Arthur Hanser, her siblings Vera Bassford and Otto Hanser and her husband Ed Furukawa.
