George Masaru Nakama was born on November 15, 1929 to Uto and Shinbyoe Nakama. He died peacefully at home on May 19, 2019 at age 89. He was a retired teacher and administrator with the State Department of Education. He is survived by his wife, Grace Gaza Nakama, a son, David Nakama, and daughter Gail Nakama LaForge (Andre). He leaves 3 grandchildren: Samantha Nakama Martinek (Brian), Kirk Nakama (Anastasia), Brodie Nakama and great-granddaughter, Malia Grace Martinek.
