Kiani Frank Cockett
(1979-2019) With deepest sorrow, we announce that Kiani Frank Cockett, age 39, a most beloved son, loving brother, family member and dearest friend has passed into the arms of the Good Lord on Monday, October 7, 2019, having lost in valiant battle against leukemia. All who knew Kiani, even just a little, have lost a beautiful, shining light in their lives. He will be missed everyday by his mother, Janice, his brother Kai, his grandmother Doris, his dear and loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and a multitude of great friends. We all love and miss you so much Kiani! In recent years, Kiani, a humble and dedicated man had thrived in the stewardship of social welfare. He was deeply committed to the underprivileged and homeless as the Operations Manager of the Waikiki Health Center Next Step Shelter. He served as the Chairman of the Board for Honolulu Community Action Program (HCAP) from 2017-2018, stepping down with the promise to return when he overcame his illness. Kiani was a strong advocate for the underserved and in the spirit of empathy and a deep understanding of the population he served, he lived his life as a true minimalist. A Memorial Service will be held on November 23, 2019 at Olivet Baptist Church, 1775 S. Beretania Street Visitation 9 AM Service at 10:00 AM with lite lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers and any monetary gifts, the family requests memorial donations to any or all of the following: Honolulu Community Action Program (HCAP), Waikiki Health Center, Team Lala and Kiani Warriors of Seattle.
