Roy was a US Army veteran and a master plumber. He supported his children in education and was thrilled when they graduated, married and paddled their own canoe. After retirement, Roy enjoyed golfing and traveling with his family.
A private memorial was held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Donations in his memory may be made to Koboji Shingon Mission.
