Haruyo Okuda, 87, of Hilo, a seamstress and retired proprietor of the former Golden Thimble in Hilo, died in Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Papaikou, Hawaii. She is survived by sons Hiram and Lloyd; daughter Karen Shindo; sisters Kikue Iwanaka, Tsuneno “Mae” Katsumoto, Sakae Hawley, Kiyono Yoshida and Kazue Kawano; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Private services. No flowers. No monetary offerings.
