Age 81, of Kapolei, formerly of Kaneohe, Hawaii, passed away May 17, 2011 in Ewa Beach. Born August 15, 1929 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Member of The Daughters of Hawaii, and Aha Hui Mo 'I O Aloha Week. She was known as the Voice of the South Pacific, a renowned singer, songwriter, musician, and entertainer. Her famed musical compositions were "Kuhio Beach", written for the beach boys of the era and "Pakalana", a song that she wrote as a young teenager.
She is survived by son, Kamaile Miller; daughter, 'Ihilani Tanya D. Miller-Cummings; brother, Ali'i Noa Silva; sisters, Hannah Uribes, Lale (Raymond) Kam, Hilda (Juan) Lopez, Queenieann (Scott Manandic) Davis and Haleaka Martin; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews and many Hanai children & extended family.
Visitation 5:00 p.m. Thursday (June 23) at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel; Wake Service 6:30 p.m. Visitation also 8:30 a.m. Friday (June 24) at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel; Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Burial 2:00 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. Aloha Attire. Flowers Welcome.
