Preceded in death by parents Duncan and Hattie Thompson, brothers Duncan, Jr., Henry and Daniel; her first husband Ernest K. Akana, Sr., and second husband John P. Baker.
She had a wonderful career working for the IRS, the U.S. Army, and finally retiring after many years with U.S. Customs Service (one of her favorite jobs).
She enjoyed singing and playing her ukulele which led to her joining her kupuna group at Leeward Community College. This became her weekly outing, her other happy place, when she wasn't travelling. Cruising on ocean liners was one of her favorite things to do, but the most favorite of all was her yearly vacation to Tahiti to be with her Tahitian families.
We will miss her smile, love, and unending support. She is finally at peace, reunited after many years, with loved ones and dear friends.
Survived by her four children: Ernest K. Akana, Jr., C. Pi`ilani (Bruce) Hanohano, Duncan (Mahealani) Akana, and John (Shanita) Akana; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brother Frank (Therese "Teri") Thompson.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, November 1st at 10:00 a.m., Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery, Kane`ohe.
Lei are welcome.
