Wendel David Bayne, Jr.
82, of Honolulu, passed away at home on December 4, 2021. He was born in Honolulu on February 2, 1939 to Wendel David Bayne, Sr. and Annette Leialoha Petersen. The Kailua High School graduate, class of 1958, was a 3-sport athlete in football, basketball and track. His working career included 40 years in the drywall trade, 10 years with Servco Toyota and 10 years at Sea Life Park. He was an avid golfer and regularly played at the Olomana golf links in Waimanalo on Friday afternoons while a member of the Olomana Pit Bulls Golf Club. Wendel, being musically inclined, loved singing and serenading patrons at various piano bars, his favorite being Orson's Bourbon House in Kailua with Joel Kurosaki at the piano. He is survived by his wife Barbara Bayne, daughter Kanani (Wes) Phillips, sons Lance Hookano, Warner (Janelle) Bayne, Beau (Myra) Bayne, Stepson Rob (Starr) Trantham. Sisters Annette Lyons-Mizukami, Aloha (Cathy) Bayne, Anna Rose (Steve) Lopez and brothers William Bayne, Wayne (Judy) Bayne, Lewis J. Hazzard III, Daniel (Jo-ann) Bayne, Kendel (Thelma) Bayne, Rodney Bayne and step- sister Ahlin Santos, Seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, sister Lynette Kamai and grandson Parker Trantham. Services to be held at St George Catholic Church Waimanalo January 28, 2022 at 10 AM.
