Helen W. Paris
March 18, 1920 - January 13, 2022 Helen Weston Paris died at Arcadia Retirement Residence, Honolulu, Hawaii at age 101. She was born in San Francisco, California to Clinton Byron Weston and Joetta Atkinson Weston and grew up with her older sister Marjorie Jean in Palo Alto, graduating from Palo Alto. H.S. She attended Oregon State University, San Mateo Community College and graduated from Stanford University with a history major in 1941. After a brief courtship, she sailed to Honolulu in July 1941 to marry Robert Henry (Bob) Paris. While raising three children in Nu'uanu, Helen was a tireless volunteer and supporter of numerous organizations including the Junior League, Punahou School, Central Union Church, the Women's Board of Missions, the Honolulu Symphony, the Honolulu Opera, and P.E.O. They moved to Palatine, Illinois in 1968 as a result of Bob's corporate promotion. When he retired in 1977, they returned to Hawaii to build a home in Captain Cook, Kona. In 1991, they celebrated 50 years of marriage surrounded by family. After Bob's death in 1992, Helen moved to Arcadia in Honolulu where she lived for 29 years until her death. Family, education and service were most important to her. She loved reading, classical music, golf and travel, and nurtured her children and grandchildren through their educations and careers. She sponsored several family reunions at beach and mountain destinations in Hawaii, throughout the mainland U.S., and once in England. She rafted a river in Montana at 80 and was still hiking with the family at 90. She was a beloved Tutu. Her family and friends will miss her indomitable spirit, encouragement, generosity, and candor. She is survived by her three children: Jane (Paris) Nagel, Robert Weston Paris, and Christopher Lewers Paris; six grand- children William Nagel, John Nagel, Catherine (Paris) Carr, Charles (Chad) Paris, Elizabeth Paris and Laura Paris; and ten great-grandchildren. Grandson Robert (Rob) Paris pre-deceased her. A memorial service will be held at Central Union Church on Saturday, March 19 (11:00 AM), followed by a graveside inurnment at Oahu Cemetery (12:45 PM). In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Arcadia Foundation or the P.E.O. Foundation - Scholar Award.
