Born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii, he was a 1946 graduate of Hilo High School. He was an Army Veteran and retired Refrigeration/AC technician at Pearl Harbor and KMCAS.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Nancy, in 2021, and eight siblings. He is survived by his brother, Yoshito "Lardy" Asato, sister, Agnes Weaver and many nieces, nephews, grand- and great-grand nieces and nephews across the country.
Uncle Kazu liked to visit Chinatown markets, cook, and travel, especially to Hilo and Japan, where his favorite places were "Ura Nihon" and Okinawa. He was a proud and true Okinawan "Uchinanchu."
The family wants to thank the wonderful staff at 15 Craigside, for the comfortable, loving, caring, and supported life he was able to have there. Private services.
