He spent his growing years in & out of all kinds of mischief. "Bad boys" would be a good description of his hoodlum years. He and his entourage all loved anything on wheels (cars & bikes) and were proficient regarding repair & restoration. Mike has many friends there and 60 years of that friendship cannot be forgotten.
A voracious reader, he enjoyed studying history, war, airplanes, cars, the stock market and other topics related to finance and health. While in Hawaii he earned his 1st degree Black belt in Karate and for a short time practiced Aikido to better understand oriental self defense.
May 20, 1968, his life changed when he was drafted and sent to Hawaii instead of Nam. Many of you know this story and are a big part of why he stayed here. "My first Christmas in the Army I spent a sunny day on Waikiki Beach and vowed never to go back to the Midwest snow, plus the girls here are so cute!"
After his service at Ft. Shafter, he attended UH and worked at the Beretania Safeway, where he met so many of his cherished friends and over the years met many more. All of these friends made his life so precious and he remembers you all.
