94 of Honolulu, passed away on April 27, 2022. His family was with him at an Assisted Care Home in Ewa Beach. Richard was born in Honaunau Kona, Hawaii and graduated from Konawaena High School. He learned to cook working at Moto's Inn in Hilo. He served as a cook in the Army, in charge of the Mess Hall at Schofield during the Korean War. After his service in the Army, Richard worked as a cook at Roy Kelly's hotels in Waikiki and at Z's Coffee Shop in downtown. At the suggestion of Dr. Richard Sakimoto he opened a restaurant, Richard's Fine Food in the Medical Arts Building. He later also opened a restaurant and bar in Waikiki and named it Richard's Royal Food. Richard was a self-taught artist and accomplished painter doing landscapes and portraits. He also did elaborate Tsuru art pieces for weddings. His artwork is in many Island homes. He is survived by four sons, Russell, Gary, Dexter (Gwen), Vernon (Consesa), five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces, and his brother Jerry Omori of Elyria, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents Shigematsu and Nanaye, sister Ellen Kimie Horiuchi, and brother Shigeto Omori. A private Military service will be held at The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl at a later date. Arrangements Provided By:
