ANN MEIERDIERCKSANN MEIERDIERCKS
Longtime Kailua resident and former Aikahi Elementary School teacher Ann Meierdiercks (nee Prinz) died June 17 in Pahoa from pancreatic cancer. She was 82. Ann was born and raised on Long Island, NY, and moved to O'ahu with her family in 1963. She was a lifelong learner and mentor to children, teaching 1st-2nd grades, Sunday school and giving her summers to vacation bible school. The Meierdiercks family are longtime members of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kailua and the Kaneohe Yacht Club. Ann survived two previous bouts with breast cancer, and was an active donor to cancer research and humanitarian causes. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Carlyle Meierdiercks; five children, Robert, John, Paul, Michael and Diana; sisters Nancy Budd, NY, and Eleanor Horvath, AZ; and brother, John Prinz, AZ; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Friends are welcome to a celebration of Ann's life scheduled for Monday, at 4 p.m., at Kaneohe Yacht Club, 44-503 Kaneohe Bay Drive.
