FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

David W. Blanchard
David W. Blanchard David "Braddah Dave" Blanchard, 65 of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2022, at The Queen's Medical Center from complications due to cancer.
Dave was born in Minneapolis, MN., to David and Wyzetta (Wilson) Blanchard on February 6, 1957. In 1969 he moved with his family to his adoptive home of Honolulu. He attended Kaiser High School where he played on the inaugural varsity football team. He received a B.A. in Economics from Willamette University in Salem, OR., where he continued his football career and was very active in the Hawaiian club.
Dave returned to Hawaii after college and worked for Wendy's Corp., opening their first store in Hilo. After almost two decades in Property Management in Honolulu, Dave found his true passion in teaching. To enable this career change, he attended the University of Hawaii and completed his teaching accreditation. He taught in Honolulu at Washington Intermediate and McKinley High School for the remainder of his career, touching the lives of thousands of students.
Dave was a faithful Lutheran and was a long-time member of Community Lutheran Church, serving as both an Elder and lay minister, often leading services when necessary. He had a deep interest in history, economics and politics, and this manifested in taking several student groups to visit Washington, DC. Dave also enjoyed many sports, both participating and watching. He was an assistant football coach at Kaiser HS and McKinley HS.
Dave was a devoted son to his mother Wyzetta and his late father, David. He was a loving brother to Marie (Mike) Raymond, Paul (Kari) Blanchard, and Don Blanchard; proud uncle to Tommy (Alexi) Raymond, Scott Raymond, Grace Blanchard, and Anna Blanchard; loving cousin to Steve (Kelli) Rogers and their family, and a great friend to many. We will all truly miss Braddah Dave.

Dave's family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of The Queen's Medical Center ICU and Oncology units.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday,
July 2, 2022, at Borthwick Mortuary, 1330 Maunakea St, Honolulu.
Private burial will follow at Hawaiian Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
