84, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2022. He was born in Wailuku, Maui. After graduating from St. Anthony School and the University of Hawaii, he had a wonderful career as a US Coast Guard Mechanical Engineer. He had a special talent for designing, building, and repairing things. His passion was restoring Mustang and Miata convertibles. He loved to travel the world, with Japan and Las Vegas being his favorite destinations. James will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Myra Gushiken; sons, Bryan Gushiken and Dean (Deborah) Gushiken; granddaughter, Lily; brother, Allan (June) Gushiken; sister, Rena Hayashi.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary, East Chapel. Service begins at 11:00 a.m. Masks Required.
