Janet Teruya passed away August 1, 2022 surrounded by her family and friends who loved her dearly. She was born on June 8, 1940 in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Toshio and Tatsue Uemoto. She was the oldest of four children.On September 7, 1958 she married Arthur Teruya and together they had five children, Carrie Ching (Clayton), Lisa Nakagawa (Rodney), Jan Plunkett (Ward), Todd, and Wendy Teruya Cieri (Brian). Janet's greatest joy was her seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren all who survive her.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, Toshio and Tatsue, and sister Susan Yamamoto. She is survived by her sisters Karen Uemoto, Faye Abe, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
Janet faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. Janet was strong, kind, loving, and supportive to many in her life. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. She loved to watch food tutorials, true crime TV shows, and traveling to the Ninth Island, Las Vegas! We were truly blessed to have her as the head of the family, and she will be profoundly missed.
