FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Bruce Alden Holmberg
Bruce Alden Holmberg Bruce Alden Holmberg passed away on July 31, 2022, after a long illness. Bruce grew up in Minneapolis, MN prior to his appointment to the U.S Academy, Annapolis MD. Most of his 20 year naval career was spent at sea in the nuclear submarine navy retiring as captain of the George Washington SSBN 598 in Hawaii.

After leaving Hawaii, the following 20 years were spent at the Handford Nuclear site in Richland, WA where he held a variety of nuclear industry positions including director of engineering and construction at the building of the electric power plant. When he retired Bruce and LaVonne moved back to the place they loved, Hawaii.

Bruce filled his retirement with volunteer work at Shriner's Hospital for children, from driver to Chairman of the Board, singing in a choir, traveling the world and best of all enjoying his grandchildren grow up.

Bruce's survivors include his wife of 64 years, LaVonne, sons Jon (Lesya). Eric (Terumi), David (Deidre), Grandsons, Ryan, Adam, Issac, Tom, Andy, granddaughter Sasha, and great grandson, Kingston.

Services will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl.
