THOMAS NELSON PIPER
Died June 24 2011 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon. He was 75. Tom grew up on the Punahou School campus in Honolulu where his father was head of building and grounds. Tom was graduated from Punahou in 1954 and later entered the US Air Force where we worked as a jet fighter air craft crew chief. After marrying Frederica Pohle of Madison, Wisconsin, Tom moved with his young family to California where he worked for Westinghouse Electric Supply Company. He returned with his family to Hawaii where he owned and operated Specialty Products, Inc. until 2007. Tom was active with the Hawaii Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the British Car Club of Hawaii. Upon retirement, he moved with his wife Frederica to Sisters, Oregon where he pursued his passion for the outdoors and fly fishing. There he continued his involvement in Trout Unlimited serving as an officer of the Deschutes County Chapter.
He is survived by his wife Frederica, his two sons, Jeffrey and Richard, both residing in Honolulu, Jeffrey and his wife Shannon's children Owen, Julia and Hugh, his siblings Richard and Pat, and three half-brothers Michael, Steven and Doug.
A memorial will be held at a later date in Honolulu.
