MONOMITA ROY KRISHNA
Monomita Krishna née Roy passed away on Wednesday, December 14th 2022 after a brave struggle with leukemia. Monomita was born in Kolkata, India, on March 14th 1960 to Jagadish Chandra and Maitry Roy. A little over a year later, the arrival of Monomita's brother Tamal completed the family. Monomita grew up mainly in Delhi, completing her high school, undergraduate, and Masters degrees there. She came to Syracuse University in upstate New York in 1984 to pursue graduate study in History. Monomita married Sankaran Krishna in July 1985 and in 1990 they moved to Honolulu, HI where they have lived since. Their sons Arnav and Amrit were born and raised on Oahu. From 1993 to 2020 Monomita taught History at Kapiolani Community College before retiring as Professor. She was a social and fun-loving person with many friends in the community. Monomita treasured her annual trips home to see family in India and loved to travel all over the world.
