FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

ROBERT A. CLARKIN
ROBERT A. CLARKINRobert Allan Clarkin died December 27, 2022, in Honolulu. He was born in Massachusetts on June 7, 1934, but spent most of his formative years in the Philippines where he moved after World War II with his parents, Helen and John Clarkin. They founded the Pepsi Cola franchise of the Philippines in Manila.

After graduating from Santa Clara University (from which all five of his children would also graduate), Bob came to Hawaii in 1958, with his bride, Marilyn Brickley Clarkin, to manage the family Pepsi Cola plant. From then on, Hawaii would always be his home. He did travel extensively, even living for two years in Spain with his wife and children. He had a rich, fascinating, and full life.

Bob was a family man, a mentor, a golfer, a tennis player, a hunter, a skeet shooter, a fisherman, a yachtsman, a chess player, a pilot, a guitarist, a singer, an excellent dancer, a great cook, a stock market enthusiast, a developer, and an entrepreneur.

He is survived by his beloved companion of many years, Suzanne Smith; his ex-wife and friend, Marilyn "Lyn" Clarkin; his children: Brent Christopher Clarkin (Randy), Cristin Clarkin Leeper (John), Tracy Marie Clarkin and Shawn Patrick Clarkin (Linda); his grandchildren: Kyle Clarkin, Kevin Clarkin, Sean Leeper (Carys), Isabel Leeper and Allyson Mailloux (Alex); his sister, Valorie Scatcherd, and by many nieces and nephews, among them his godson, John Paul Clarkin III. Bob was predeceased by his son, Curt Anthony Clarkin and by his brother, Dr. John Paul Clarkin.

Funeral services will be held privately.

And so, dear Dad, PapaBob, Bob and friend,
as the Irish blessing says,
"...until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand."

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
