But perhaps Gaylord was most known for his love of football – a passion he shared with his father. He was fortunate to be able to help the University of Hawaii football team in the late '80s and early '90s. This love of football parlayed him into a world none of the family could have ever imagined for him. He was the family celebrity being recognized everywhere he went, and he savored every moment. After he left the University of Hawaii football program, he went on to help the football programs at St. Louis School, Waipahu High School, and Nanakuli High School. While he brought so much hype and happiness to all the fans at the games, it was Gaylord who received all the happiness and excitement being able to do what he loved without the barriers of his disability. Gaylord lived life to the fullest and on his own terms.
Gaylord is predeceased by his parents Lancelot, Sr. and Mae, and brothers Edward and Galahad, Sr. He is survived by his brother Lancelot, Jr. (Moana), sisters: Brenda, Donna, Greer, Maeda (Keith), sisters-in-law: Teri and Maile, hanai sister: Joyce, and many nieces and nephews.
