Yoshio was born in Honolulu, HI on August 8, 1930 to Kuno and Sozuchi Fujita. After graduating from Kaimuki High School, he joined the U.S. Army and became a clerk-typist. He subsequently moved to Chicago and worked for the Campbell Soup Company, taking computer classes through IBM in his spare time. This led to a life-long career as a computer specialist with the U.S. government, first at Fort Shafter, then Fort Kamehameha, and finally, at Tripler Army Medical Center.
After returning from Chicago, Yoshio met and married his wife of 61 years, Betty (Zakahi) and had three daughters. Besides his family, his great loves were bowling and playing softball with the Hui Na Ohana, sewing pikake leis, attending UH football games, and watching his beloved San Francisco 49ers.
He is survived by wife Betty; daughters Wendy (Paul) Shigeta, Allison (Nicholas) Augusta and Dawn (John) Matsumoto and five grandchildren.
