Gumersindo Martinez Atanis, 87, of Waipahu, an Army veteran, died in Honolulu. He was born in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He is survived by wife Normita C.; sons Rogelio, Gumersindo, Rolando and William L.; daughter Evangeline L. Pangilinan; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation: 6 p.m. Wednesday at Mililani Mortuary-Waipio, mauka chapel. Services: 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation: 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church. Mass: 11:15 a.m. Committal services: 1 p.m at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
