Dana Robert MorrisonDANA ROBERT MORRISON
On Feb 13, "Capt. Bob", 65, was cleared for an earthly departure from Saint Francis Hospice in Honolulu on his final flight following a brief battle with cancer.
Born Dana Robert Morrison in Los Angeles October 7, 1946, Bob spent a lifetime enamored with baseball, sailing, and flight. After learning to fly as a teenager, he graduated from University of Southern California with a desire to pursue aviation as a career. Following service as a USAF pilot, he moved to Hawaii in 1978 and began to accumulate airtime as a flight instructor. He also flew for Panorama Air tours, Hawaii Air Ambulance, Royal Hawaiian Air Service, and eventually for Aloha Airlines with both interisland and mainland routes. Also interested in glider flight, he held altitude diamonds for glider flights exceeding 30,000 feet. He joined Pacific Air Charters, Inc. and flew part-time for an aerial photogrammetry firm when he reluctantly retired from Aloha due to the FAA "Age 60 Rule".
Fun loving and adventurous, he particularly enjoyed surfing, and sailing, skiing or snowboarding with his many friends. He was proud to spend time with fellow aviators as a member of the Quiet Birdmen. Always the gracious host at home, he enjoyed any opportunity to welcome visiting friends. He and his wife, Sony, made Christmas in their beautiful Kahala home an annual tradition.
He is survived by his devoted wife Sony, sister JoDee (Ernie) Hunt, nephew Jeff (Heather) Young, and nieces Laureli Lunn and Tina Young. Services at Oahu Cemetery Chapel, March 3, 10am.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
