Frederick “Fritz” Rietfors
FREDERICK "FRITZ" RIETFORS
87, of Kamuela Hawaii, passed away in Las Vegas Nevada Feb. 6, 2012.
Fritz was born in Hallam, Nebraska on June 18, 1924. He moved to Honolulu in 1942, where he worked at the Pearl Harbor woodworking shop.
In 1947 he moved to Kailua. He built a home in Maunawili in 1957, where he raised his family.
During his career, Fritz worked for E.E. Black Construction on the Wilson Tunnels, Custom Builders, and Tropicana Village. In 1973 he started Dynasty Metal Systems with his son Ron. A year later, he moved the Company to the Big Island, and settled in Kamuela with his late wife Esther. He retired in 1997. He continued his love of woodworking, spending many hours in his workshop. He also enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, where he often joked he would like to become a Professional Gambler by age 90.
He is survived by his brother, Bob Rietfors of San Diego, California, and his two sons and their families: Ron (wife Margaret, children Kevin and Kimberly), Ken (wife Linda, children Brian and Justin (Melissa), and youngest son Les' wife Cheryl, and children Ashley and Amanda. He is also survived by second wife Lois.
He is preceded in death, by first wife Esther Hodde Rietfors and his youngest son Les.
He and Esther's ashes are to be scattered at a later date per their wishes.
Well liked and respected, we all have happy memories of Fritz and we must hold them dear in our hearts and cherish them, as he cherished us.
