FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

ELOISE UNG WONG MANIFOLD
ELOISE UNG WONG MANIFOLD Eloise Ung Wong Manifold passed away on November 4, 2011, from complications due to cancer. Ung, or Aunty Ung as she was known to family and friends, was born at home in Honolulu, to James and Yuk-Lin Ching (Eloise) Wong on September 24, 1930. She grew up in Honolulu and graduated from Farrington High School and the University of Hawaii. After graduating from the University, Ung left Hawaii on her first great adventure, going to work for the U.S. Army in Naha, Okinawa a place she had never heard of before that assignment. There she met the love of her life, George Thomas Manifold, and they were married in Japan in 1953. Together they traveled the world and enjoyed a wonderful life and many adventures together. Their escapades in the Far-East, especially in Korea, Japan, and across the U.S. are legendary. After her loving husband and soul mate, George, passed away while they were on assignment in Okinawa, she volunteered for a new assignment with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. There she met many of her lifelong friends, including her closest friend Jim Ballard. Ung and Jim continued their love of travel and saw much of the world together. They made many friends wherever they went and were loved by everyone they met. After retiring from the DOD, Ung and Jim build their dream-house in Henderson, Nevada, and they made that area their permanent home. Henderson thus became a destination location for family and friends from all over the world, and there were many great celebrations in their home. Friends from Europe, the Far-East, and from all areas of the U.S. were frequent visitors to Henderson. After Jim pass away, Ung continued to travel, explore, and mentor many friends - old and new. Her many journeys to Ireland to see her granddaughter and great-granddaughters, to China to just see the country, and to all parts to this country to visit granddaughters and friends were occasions to celebrate. Ung will always be remembered for her spirit of Aloha, her generosity to everyone she met, and for her determination to do all things well. Ung was preceded in passing by her loving husband George, her great friend Jim Ballard, her parents, her sister Janet Chang and by her brother Sammy Wong. She is survived by her son Douglas and his wife Pat, her brother Dick (Heddy), her granddaughter Kim McGuire (Husband - Vivian), grandsons John (Mechel), Michael (Holly), and Steven, and great-granddaughters Sarah and Katie McGuire, and Dylan Manifold and many friends, her nieces Geri Hosaka (Mel), Janice Jensen and nephew David Wong, and Jessie McKamey, her sister-in-law Sumiko (Susie) Wong, brother-in-law David Chang, and their families. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at the Community Church of Honolulu, 2345 Nu`uanu Avenue, Honolulu, at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be at the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flower wreaths, please wear lei and dress in the spirit of Aloha, as she would want everyone to do. Donations may be made to your favorite charity in her remembrance. Memory letters and notes may be sent to djmanifold@comcast.net.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
