EDWARD "CHIP" UEHARA-TILTON AKA EDWARD F. TILTON, JR.
Precious husband, dedicated father, dear brother, outstanding uncle and faithful friend died April 16, 2012 at age 65. Chip was born December 4, 1946 in Tucson, AZ to Persida and Edward "Ned" Tilton. He graduated from West High in Phoenix and earned a B.A. in Secondary Education from California State University. He served in the Peace Corps teaching auto mechanics in Malaysia, drove semi-trucks across the USA, and had a career in advertising in Southern California. After moving to Oahu in 1978, he became known as a talented seaman, maritime consultant and engineer, radio broadcaster and facilitator of numerous Hawaiian cultural activities. A member of the American Society of Naval Engineers and proprietor of Edward's Marine Repair, he was engaged as a consultant at Navatek on the Sea Flyer project, and managed some of Hawaii's finest private yachts. Chip escorted many teams for the Molokai to Oahu paddle board and canoe races, the 2005 Huakai to Papahanaumokuakea and the 2007 Site Analysis & Study at Mokumanamana. He founded a radio station in Hawaii, was a member of the Honolulu Civic Entrepreneur Initiative and hosted the TV program Bring the World Home. Chip is survived by his wife and closest friend Lorna Uehara-Tilton, his son Ross Uehara-Tilton, his sister and brother-in-law Maryann and Robert Antrasian of Scottsdale, AZ and nephew Justin McMahan of Los Angeles, CA.
