William A.L. Thoene Jr., 87, of Florence, Ore., a federal government retiree and an Army veteran who served in World War II, died in Florence. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by son Wendell and daughters Gale Martin and Patricia DeCoster. Burial: 9 a.m. Saturday at Diamond Head Memorial Park. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
