Lovingly known by friends and family as "Toots", departed for heaven on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Jackson North Hospital in Miami, Florida, at the age of 52. Born on September 30, 1960, in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was the youngest of three children. She was raised in Wahiawa and graduated from Leilehua High School in 1978. After attending Honolulu Community College for one year, she moved to Oakland, California, in 1980 where she attended Polly Priest Business College. Several years later, she settled in Miami, Florida where she married Ernest Edwards. Cecelia was free-spirited and enjoyed the simple things in life. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an incredibly devoted fan of professional tennis and football, and to her delight, was hired to work with security teams for several professional football games in Miami. Her well-known passion was working as a chef and catering special events. She is predeceased by her father, Charles Williams Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories; her husband, Ernest Edwards, her mother, RoseMarie Doral, one sister, Clara D. Priester, one brother, Charles W. Smith, Jr., her stepfather, Richard L. Doral ("Pops"), two stepbrothers; Charles Doral and Jeffrey Doral, one stepsister, Francine D. Higashi, one brother-in-law, Dwayne E. Priester, three nephews; Damon V. Allen, Brandon C. Allen, and Isaac J. Smith, two nieces; Clarisse J. Smith and Candace J. Akui, one goddaughter, Charelle Bethel, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. In fulfillment of Cecelia's wishes, a private gathering of family and friends will take place at Waimea Bay Beach Park in the spring of 2013 to disperse her ashes and celebrate her life. Cecelia will especially be remembered for her love of life and spirit of adventure that allowed her to explore diverse interests and places. She will be missed immensely.
