Charles Edward NelsonCHARLES EDWARD NELSON
88, of Kapolei, passed away March 2, 2013. Born in Chicago, Illinois on September 25, 1924, son of Jesse Ward and Natalia Margarita Nelson. He moved to Hawaii in 1948, where he started off selling adding machines to mom-and -pop stores before the rise of cash registers. He soon got a job with New York Life, selling life insurance. He stayed with the company for 20 years, receiving the honored gold watch. He left to work for the city of Honolulu as the Deputy Managing Director with Mayor Frank Fasi. He then went to Hawaiian Trust until he retired as a Vice President. He continued his career as an Estate Planner and Trust Consultant. He is survived by his wife, Corazon Surima Nelson; his sons, David and Loretta Nelson; Greg and Sharon Nelson; Michael and Karen Nelson; and Richard Nelson; his stepchildren Christian Glomb; Karen Glomb; John Kenneth Yee and Elaine Joy Baclaan; and his sisters Jessie Ann Engle and Cyrena Wilson. A memorial will be held at St. Jude's Church at the bottom of Makakilo Hill on Monday April 29, 2013. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Reception at the church will follow.
