Duane Harold "Pete" Pederson, 68, of Hilo, a retired Marine Corps first sergeant who served in the Vietnam War and a retired U.S. Postal Service mail carrier, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Williston, N.D. He is survived by son Julian; daughters Nyla and Marilee Pederson, Monique Palea, and Sharla Tengan; a brother; three sisters; and seven grandchildren. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Friday at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Services: 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
