CAROLE and CLIFTON W. SONG, SR.
5-15 CAROLE & CLIFTON SONG, SR -In Memoriam new cropped.IN MEMORIAM CAROLE and CLIFTON W. SONG, SR. CLIFTON W. SONG, SR. died 28 April 2008 at his residence in Waipio. He was born in Honolulu. He was survived by his wife of 60 years, Carole, brothers Leonard Song of Kaneohe and Roger (Maxine) Song of Washington, sisters Sharon Paik of California and Alva Song of Waipahu. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired Honolulu Police Department Detective, having previously served in the department as a "solo bike" officer and motor patrolman (in the Waianae district). He described himself as "jack-of-all-trades, master of none" and dabbled in electricity, plumbing, welding, auto mechanics, agriculture, husbandry, beading, creating Hawaiian implements, cooking, fishing, and carpentry. He crafted several keepsake pieces for his children and grandchildren. His happiest moments were spent out on the ocean fishing or cooking for friends and family. CAROLE A. SONG died 16 April 2014 on Maui. She was born in Paia. She is survived by brothers Henry (Pearl) Ahn of California and Hung Soo Ahn of Honolulu; sister Kay Wha Lee of Hilo; and sister-in-law Clara Ahn of California. She was a retired school teacher. She delighted in having served in the Leeward area as an educator for elementary, intermediate, high school, and adult education, and special education students for many years. She enjoyed sewing, helping to clothe her children while they were young, and creating gifts for friends and relatives during her senior years. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were special joys to her. Clif and Carole are survived by sons Clifton Song, Jr. of Maui, Carlton Song of Waianae, and Clifton (Lokelani) Song, III of Maui; daughters Caren Song of Hilo, Petra Cho of Honolulu, and Lynette (Jim) Patterson of Hilo; sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Private scattering of ashes will be done offshore at Pokai Bay, on the Waianae Coast, where they spent most of their lives with beloved friends and family. A celebration of their lives will follow at Maili Beach Park on Saturday, 17 May 2014 around 6:30 p.m.
