A Tribute to SONIA FAUST Ann Sonia Faust was born in Honolulu in 1936 and grew up in Wahiawa, Los Angeles, and on Maui where she graduated from Baldwin High School in 1955. She attended the University of Hawaii graduating in 1959 and received a Coro Foundation fellowship in public affairs in San Francisco, followed by a scholarship from the Harvard School of Law, graduating in 1964. Following her graduation from Harvard Sonia provided public service for the State of Hawaii for over forty five years. She began her legal career at the Honolulu Corporation Council's office and soon after joined the Legislative Reference Bureau. In 1970 she joined the State Attorney General's Office and in the mid 1970s she worked for the Hawaii Public Employment Relations Board and also for a short time with the Maui Corporation Counsel's office. In 1982 Sonia returned to the Attorney General's Office as head of the Antitrust Division and was later selected to head the Regulatory Division and retired in 2009 as supervisor of the Land and Transportation Division while also serving on a number of state oversight committees as well. Sonia is survived by a brother, Nicholas, who resides at June Lake California.
