Herman Farias Sr., 88, of Hilo, a retired installer for The Gas Co., a former employee of Wailoa Recap and Flowers of Hawaii, and an Army veteran who served in World War II, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Linda; daughter Paulette Pang-Ching; brothers Joseph Jr. and James; sisters Flora Temporal, Elizabeth Childress and Rose Marie Resureccion; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. Friday at Malia Puka o Kalani Catholic Church, 326 Desha Ave., Keaukaha, Hawaii. Mass: 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
