75Ruth La Verne Kaho'oilihala "Penny" Brooks, 71, of Hilo, an independent contractor in Hilo and managing director for the former Waiakea Theaters, died at home. She was born in Laupahoehoe, Hawaii. She is survived by son Shawn; daughters Noreen Escalona and Sheri Wills; stepmother Paz Kaho'oilihala; brothers John, Donald, Timothy and Jerry Kaho'oilihala; sister Pua Gamiao; and eight grandchildren.
