CHARLES "CHARLIE" SEIYEI KUBOTA
CHARLES CHARLIE SEIYEI KUBOTA 90, of Honolulu passed away on March 3, 2015 at Maluhia Nursing Home. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in Feb 2008. Charlie was born on April 26, 1924 in Puunene, Maui (Camp 4). In 1945, he was drafted into the Army as an interpreter and eventually served as an MP in Japan. He retired as a carpenter and is a lifetime member of the Hawaii Carpenters Union Local #745. He was a very active member of Aza Gushikawa Doshi Kai. For many years he volunteered his carpentry skills for the Okinawan Festival. He will always be remembered for his guitar playing and singing, his Banzai's, his orange "Kubota" hat, his Primo beer and his constant generosity. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kaneko; children, Eric, Ann Kubota, Mark (Kellee), and Val; daughter-in-law, Nad; grand- children, Amber, Kristen, Brayden, and Rylie; great- grandson, Azien, and many nieces and nephews. His son Jon precedes him in death. Visitation: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Service: 11:00 a.m. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
