James TanabeJAMES TETSUJI TANABE January 21, 1932 - March 19, 2015 James Tanabe passed away on March 19, 2015, with his devoted wife of 61 years, Yoshie, at his side. Our dad lost his battle with Parkinson's but never lost his courage or his love for family and friends. After graduation from McKinley and UH, our dad enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served with the Military Intelligence Service in Japan. After moving to the mainland he was a county juvenile probation officer in Chicago, retiring after 25 years as a supervisor with the Cook County Intensive Probation Unit. Returning to Honolulu he worked another ten years as a state probation officer at the Alder Street Detention Home. Our dad loved sports. Starting in Chicago he spent countless off duty hours refereeing high school and college basketball and wrestling. Only his knees stopped him from continuing - the love for the game never diminished. Please join us and celebrate our dad's life, April 25, 2015, at the Community Church of Honolulu, 2345 Nuuanu Ave. Service at 10am and please join us afterwards for lunch in the church social hall. No flowers but please make any donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, the Military Intelligence Service Veterans Club of Hawaii or your favorite charity.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
